Dr. Neifi Acosta

New York Middle School Principal Dr. Neifi Acosta

A New York educational leader with more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Neifi Acosta joined the New York City Department of Education in 1988. In his first position as a math teacher and math chair, he taught bilingual and special education students and achieved an 80 percent passing rate among eighth-grade Accelerated Math Regent classes. Dr. Neifi Acosta then spent several years as an assistant principal, supporting daily school operations and writing several grants to support curriculum development and technology improvements.

Since 1999, Dr. Acosta has served as a middle school principal in the New York City school system. In addition to curriculum and professional development for teachers, he secured grants to help improve arts and technology education. Dr. Acosta holds a master of science in math education from the City University of New York and a EdD in urban leadership from Fordham University.

To stay current on educational topics, Dr. Neifi Acosta maintains membership in professional organizations such as the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Middle School Principals Association. In addition, Dr. Acosta is a member of ADASA , American Dominican Association of Supervisors and Administrators. He also served as a two terms Vice-President of the American Dominican Association of Supervisors and Administrators. He’s in the list of the founding members of the association.
